Currently in Canada 3G is being phased out, with some carriers already having phased it out of their networks, and some in the process of doing so¹.

Additionally, some carriers have strict phone specific whitelisting for the registration of IMS. Without IMS registration MMS and VoLTE will not work. VoLTE is how calls function over a 4G network and so with the 3G shutdown some carriers no longer support calls at all. See carrier specific information below.
