Third party dialer apps are not recommended as they do not have the basic functionality provided by the stock dialer such as using the numpad, hangup button, or ending the call when closing the phone.

QUIK SMS is an open source texting app with amazing support for usage via the D-Pad.

Fossify Contacts is a simple contacts app that is very navigable via the D-pad. However, sometimes Fossify Contacts will not be able to add contacts to storage visible to other apps. It may be necessary to create a visible contacts storage for it to use by using another contacts app¹.
