When using a custom launcher even after setting the default launcher you will be prompted to choose your launcher after every reboot. You can fix this behavior by debloating the stock launcher app package: (enter stock launcher package name). To do this see the debloating apps page.
InkOS

InkOS is a minimal text based launcher with D-Pad reasonable navigation support. Does not support custom shortcuts however, and has issues with showing all installed apps at times.

InkOS is capable of creating shortcuts through its settings menu, which is accessible by pressing and holding with the cursor on the home screen. In “App Drawer>System Shortcuts” you can enable various system shortcuts. Notably, “Settings Search” is a shortcut to the Android settings menu.

Multi Launcher
Native D-Pad Support: Somewhat supported

Setting up some of the home screen requires a cursor or screen mirroring. Navigation in settings has inconsistent highlighting of selection, but home screen has clear selections.
Ion Launcher
Native D-Pad Support: Minimally supported

Not well supported on the phone without a cursor. Main screen is not navigable by the D-Pad.
